Call for active Europeans
We are looking for Europeans who want to participate in a dinner & discussion on the third of July setting about active citizenship throughout Europe.
THE EUROPEAN TABLE: 3 JULY
All over Europe citizen initiatives take place in the field of food, care, housing, sustainability and education. An increasing need for citizen participation has developed due to the current worldwide recession. This participation slowly increases in the Netherlands, is this significant for all European countries? What can we learn from each other? How could we share our knowledge? What are the differences and similarities within Europe?
In association with European Alternatives Pakhuis de Zwijger invites various Europeans to join the European table, a dinner session to be held on July 3rd 2012. Main topic of the evening is the citizen participation in Europe. Each table companion will be asked to tell briefly about active citizenship in their country of origin. Then a central discussion and knowledge sharing will take place.
After the dinner session you are also invited to our annual Joint Venture. Main topic during this night of the three-day event will be citizen initiatives in the Netherlands. (The event will be held in Dutch.)
Do you think you can give a good reflection about the citizen initiatives in your country of origin? And are you keen to join the discussion? Please contact Stefanie Bakker to register or for further questions.

Pakhuis de Zwijger is a platform in Amsterdam for creation and innovation. Exchange is the main goal: to learn from each other and to gain inspiration. It is a place where you meet new people from different worlds with shared mentalities. European Alternatives is a transnational membership organisation promoting democracy, equality and culture beyond the nation state. European Alternatives believes that social and political change requires artistic and cultural engagement as much as other forms of engagement.
